THE ROAD TO MECCA by Athol Fugard
New York Drama Critics Circla Award Best Foreign Play 1987 - 88
2007

Synopsis
Set in the village of Nieu Bethesda in the desolate wasteland of the Karoo Valley in South Africa during the days of apartheid, is an emotional roller-coaster of love, loss, betrayal and ultimately trust re-born. The Road to Mecca tells the tale of Helen Martins, an Afrikaner, whose creation of Mecca in the grounds of her home caused consternation and hostility among the locals. Full of light and glitter, like Helen's life, this play will make you laugh, it will make you cry and in the end it will leave you with a feeling of hope and belief in the human race.
